I asked if you were able to find a small hydraulic arm and installed it if that would work and they told me any modification would void the warranty.

The Curt Class I, part # C11412 will not have the stop punched or welded into the receiver tube to prevent higher capacity Class II accessories from being used. However, overloading the hitch can cause the receiver tube to bend or the hitch attachment points to the vehicle to fail. There are a couple reasons you cannot drill a hole in the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount, part # D210.
First, you would void any warranty for the mount and probably the accessory you want to use with the ball mounted in the # D210. Secondly, the top receiver opening is not designed for a hitch ball. It is made to be used with an accessory like a cargo carrier or a bike carrier. The bottom hitch ball mount is the only part of the item that is designed to be used with a trailer.
